Mathematics Specialist Certificate

Broaden your teaching career as a mathematics specialist or mathematics coach with this graduate certificate. 

This program best suits current classroom teachers who wish to add mathematics as a new subject area to their professional skills. It’s also a great option for new teacher candidates entering the teaching profession who are non-mathematics majors and wish to earn a highly qualified title to their academic experience to broaden their teaching careers as mathematics specialists or mathematics coaches. ‎兔子先生's 12-credit Mathematics Specialist Certificate allows you to specialize in elementary/middle school or high school math.

Mathematics Specialist Certificate Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Mathematics Specialist Certificate program will gain skills and training in areas such as:

  • The relationship between the study of arithmetic and algebra in grades K-8
  • Massachusetts Common Core State Standards in Mathematics
  • Using technology in K-12 mathematics classrooms
  • Methods to improve outcomes for students with disabilities

For consideration, applicants must submit the following documents to the Office of Graduate Admissions: 

  1. A completed application -
  2. Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts (the required undergraduate degree must be from a college or university whose accreditation is recognized by NEASC, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale)
  3. An original essay of at least 250 words on the topic: “Why A Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Specialist Program is important to my personal and professional goals."
  4. A current résumé
  5. Two letters of recommendation -

  7. A copy of MTEL results (if applicable)
  8. A copy of your current teaching license (if applicable)
